To mark this year’s World Refugee Day, 20th June 2023, Refugees as Re-Builders™ (RRB) along with IofC UK Trustee Mike Kane, MP for Wythenshawe and Sale East hosted a roundtable in Parliament. Key stakeholders, RRB™ Alumni, and MP Stephen Kinnock joined us to discuss the theme of this year’s World Refugee Day and Week; ‘Hope away from home’ and ‘Compassion’. IofC UK Chair of Trustees, Margaret Cosens, also attended the event and made the formal announcement at Westminster about Refugees as Re-Builders™ Curriculum becoming the first programme at IofC UK to launch as an ILM Assured course.
ILM is a household brand and global leader in Supervisory and Management skills development. ILM Assured acceptance confirms that our RRB™ Curriculum has world-class systems and processes in place to design, deliver and support leadership and management within this programme. On receiving this achievement, IofC UK Chair of Trustees, Margaret Cosens could not be prouder. “Not only is this an amazing achievement, but we are incredibly proud to say RRB™ is the first ever refugee-dedicated course ever to receive ILM Assurance.”
It was a historic day for me, my colleagues, and RRB™ Alumni.” says Dr Muna Ismail, Programme Manager for RRB™, “By coming together, we can all Take One Step to develop a counter-negative narrative for refugees and people who experience displacement.”
RRB is looking to begin its next assured course in the new year. In the interim, we encourage all those interested to join the RRB mailing list to keep up to date with the programme’s activities, future course taster sessions, and more. We are also funding the programme itself and have recently commissioned our first-ever RRB greeting cards for the programme itself and have recently commissioned our first-ever RRB greeting cards which are for sale on our online shop. Pieces were used from RRB’s annual art workshop where Alumni were invited to create something representing this year’s World Refugee Day theme: Hope away from home.
Becoming an ILM Assured course is a big step forward for RRB™ and for Initiatives of Change UK. We look forward to what the future holds!
