The IofC UK Book Club is for anyone and everyone, inside and outside the organisation. The more readers, the merrier in our eyes…
Starting from Tuesday 25th January, we will be holding a bi-monthly session via Zoom at 4:30pm – 5:30pm. Our first book we will be reading together is ‘Manifesto for a Moral Revolution’, selected by El Laskar. It is a book that shares essential leadership practises for everyone who wants to do good in this world and is from the author of the New York Times bestseller The Blue Sweater and founder and CEO of Acumen.
How to join…
In the first session we will be reading the introduction together to kick start and outlining the format. We look forward to seeing you there!
Qualities and Strategies of Peacemakers – January Online CourseAround 1/4 of all people worldwide live in countries affected by conflict.
With this in mind, it’s time we started investing more in peacebuilding.
Qualities and Strategies of Peacemakers (QSP-online) is a course of five short modules, each based on a film about outstanding peacemakers.
The films show examples of reconciliation after conflict in a variety of contexts: inter-national, inter-religious, inter-ethnic and post-colonial. After an introduction and viewing of the film, participants take part in an interactive analysis facilitated by Dr Omnia Marzouk and/or Peter Riddell.
QSP is for anyone over the age of 18, in particular those who want to respond to past or present instability in their countries. It aims to enrich their understanding of peace-making and stimulate new ideas for ways forward.
QSP is free of charge, but voluntary donations to extend the programme are appreciated.
Qualities and Strategies of Peacemakers – December Online Course; FULLY BOOKED
This course is now fully booked.
If you are interested in attending our Qualities and Strategies of Peacemakers Online Course, we are also offering sessions in January or February.
We apologise for any inconvenience.

December Business Circle – Advanced Conscious Leadership
Facilitated by Anton Smith, this series of Business Circles will centre around Leadership Values with reference to the Initiatives of Change’s Core Values identified below.
The question will be how Leaders can incorporate these values into their organisations. Of course, all 6 Values are interrelated – we can’t have Honesty without Trust Building but within each topic there are distinct aspects that matter.
1. HONESTY
2. UNSELFISHNESS
3. LOVE
4. PURITY OF MOTIVE
5. TRUST BUILDING / COOPERATION
6. QUIET TIME
Business Circle 4 – PURITY OF MOTIVE
Purity of motive…what does this mean and how does it manifest, or not, in behaviour and human interactions?
Sometimes, some people have a tendency to keep true motives a secret; what we often refer to as a hidden agenda. This means that a person will hide an impure motive behind external good-naturedness and an offer of “help”, whereas the true motive is to manipulate.
But there are other reasons why people hide what they really want – they may be afraid of asking for a need to be addressed – such as being anxious about asking for a pay rise, or asking someone for a date. Hiding one’s true reasons for engagement of some sort is not necessarily to do with impure motives.
Political and economic history, our experience in the workplace and in our relationships have given us all plenty of examples of deception and impure motive as well as, happily, examples of purity of motive. We can bring all these experiences and observations into our discussions.
Spaces are LIMITED for this session; first come, first served. Please note that all sessions are held on Zoom – we advise that you ensure your Zoom application, whether on desktop, browser, or mobile device, is the most current version. Please see Zoom Updates for more details.
This event is for anyone who’d like to share their experiences of Leadership, whether as a Leader, a Leadership Trainer or as one who has observations to make of their Leaders.
