The headline for a major article in the Newbury Weekly News on 28 March was āTerrorism will never keep us apartā. The subheading was āLocal community shows its support for Newbury Muslims in the wake of the shootings in Christchurch, New Zealandā. Howard and Maria Grace, with a dozen others, displayed solidarity with local Muslims as they arrived at the mosque for Friday prayers on 22 March. This was deeply appreciated, and the group were invited in for the end of prayers. Placards held by them read: āIn Friendship we Stand with you Against Hateā and āIn Solidarity with our Muslim Brothers and Sistersā.
At the end of prayers Imam Mobasshir Mushtaq said, āWe really appreciate you coming here and showing solidarity at this time of sorrow.ā
