On 19th January, Dr Alan Channer, director and producer of The Imam and the Pastor, and director of An African Answer films, was the guest speaker at the monthly online event for alumni of the Qualities and Strategies of Peacemakers course. He spoke about how the films had come about, and the importance of the relationships of trust that developed between film-makers and their subjects. He revealed how, after the launch of ‘An African Answer’ in Nairobi in 2010, Pastor James Wuye had recommended that he spend time in Kenya to take the film to different communities. You can watch his talk here. |

We have been busy this month, the new Intermediate RRB course has begun. This coming Saturday will be the first content session of the Refugees as Re-Builders Intermediate Level. At the Intermediate Level, participants are building on what they learnt at Foundation. The focus of the first module, Dialogue for Social Cohesion, is ‘Building Relationships Across Difference’. Participants will be doing more listening and speaking practice to equip them to use dialogue in their work as rebuilders. |

The Business and Economy programme would like to highlight the remarkable story of launching the Women in Leadership Roundtables. When we held our first Roundtable in December 2020, little did we know how this initiative would evolve.
We are excited to share that we ran 13 Roundtables in 2021 with participants from more than 20 different countries from all over the world. Themes ranged from the societal to the very personal and were designed to put “connection over content” during these sessions.
We also now planning to launch a new initiative in spring called “Collaboration Circles”. These lunchtime events (GMT) will allow for deep discussions and reflections on topics focussing on the human factor in our professional life – stay tuned for further updates.
The ACL Leadership Business Circles resumed in September after the summer break and four sessions were held. We've also delivered some training work in Business Planning to two organisations involved in the AfR Programme. It is hoped that more of this valuable liaison and working with other IofC programmes will benefit our partners. Business Circles are set to resume on a monthly basis from February 17th onwards (see "Events").

The head of the Sustainable Communities programme Amina Khalid facilitated a hybrid panel during European Policy Dialogue Forum 2021 from 19-21 October 2021 in Lisbon, Portugal. Over three days, migration experts, policy makers, diplomats and politicians joined the rich and fruitful discussions and conversations on the participation of refugees and migration and the fight against hate speech efforts in Europe.
We are currently working with four students of Brunel University's Global Challenges programme. They are helping us further our work in intergenerational dialogue by organising events on migration and cohesion in Uxbridge and Hackney. Read about the first of these events here and stay tuned for more! |
